Why Sunflowers Make the Perfect Setting
Sunflowers are bold and free. They offer:
- Eye catching drama- perfect for dreamy portraits.
- Vivid color contrast with the blue sky.
- A sense of whimsy and joy that brings out the best in everyone, even the shyest subjects.
Timing is Everything
Sunflowers don’t bloom for long—10 days only in the fields I love! I plan shoots around their peak bloom. Early morning or golden hour (just before sunset) gives us that glowy, golden light.
What to Wear for a Sunflower Field Shoot
Soft, neutral tones or rich earth colors—nothing too busy that would compete with the flowers. Think:
✔ Flowy dresses
✔ Jeans and t-shirts
✔ Flower crowns if you’re feeling extra dreamy
And yes, we will get a little dirty —but that’s part of the fun. Wear your boots!
Behind the Scenes: More Than Just Pretty Pictures
Every shoot in a sunflower field feels like a tiny adventure. We laugh, we explore, we find the perfect angles. I often encourage movement—twirls, running, dancing—because this setting calls for fun and smiles. It’s not just about the flowers. It’s about how people feel among them: open, free, radiant.
Want In?
I offer sunflower sessions every year for a few short evenings while the blooms last and if the weather cooperates. If you’re interested, I’d love to have you join me for a magical, joy-filled shoot. Spots go quickly, so get in touch early to reserve yours!
Let’s capture your light among the sunflowers. 🌻💛
